Section 63 Competency Scheme (Scotland)

Becoming a Section 63 Assessor

Section 63 applies to Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEAs) operating in Scotland. Larger non-domestic buildings in Scotland with a floor area of more than 1,000 m² that are triggered by either sale or by lease to a new tenant, are required to have a valid EPC along with a Section 63 Action Plan. NB. exemptions apply to buildings that already meet the required energy standards.

NDEAs working in Scotland must be part of a Section 63 competency scheme in order to produce legally valid Section 63 Action Plans for larger no-domestic buildings (over 1000m²). Once you are a qualified, you can join ecmk’s Section 63 Competency Scheme.

By joining ecmk’s Section 63 competency scheme you’ll have a licence to operate as a Section 63 Advisor and have an effective means to lodge your Action Plans and DECs to the Scottish EPC Register, with the assurance of quality control. You will also gain access to other services ecmk has to offer.
