ecmk is proud to announce its successful bid to become the training and accreditation partner to deliver the UK Government’s Warm Homes Skills Programme (WHSP).
The bid competition, run by the Midlands Net Zero Hub on behalf of the UK Government, was for a programme to deliver a training service to enable people to develop skills as installers and retrofit professionals within the retrofit and energy efficiency sector.
This significant appointment recognises ecmk as a leading force in retrofit training and accreditation. The company will play a central role in addressing the retrofit skills gap — a critical challenge in the UK’s journey toward decarbonising the built environment and achieving net zero emissions.
Through the WHSP, ecmk will offer ABBE-accredited training, ensuring high-quality, industry-recognised qualifications for those entering or upskilling within the domestic retrofit workforce. ABBE (Awarding Body for the Built Environment) is a nationally respected awarding organisation known for its rigorous standards and relevance to real-world delivery.
“We are delighted to have been selected as a trusted delivery partner for the Warm Homes Skills Programme,” said Adam Casey, Scheme Director at ecmk. “This programme is about more than training — it’s about creating lasting change on the ground. We’re committed to raising industry standards and building a skilled workforce that can deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes across the UK.”
The Warm Homes Skills Programme is a vital component of the Government’s wider net zero strategy, aiming to equip workers with the skills and qualifications needed to carry out high-quality retrofit work — from insulation and ventilation to whole-house retrofit planning and coordination.
ecmk will work alongside key industry stakeholders to ensure that training is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to workforce needs.
This programme supports the UK’s ambition to reduce carbon emissions from homes, lower energy bills, and create sustainable jobs — particularly in regions where economic regeneration and green skills investment are most needed.
“We believe that by embedding quality at the point of delivery, we can unlock the full potential of the UK’s retrofit sector,” added Adam. “This is about setting a new standard — for training, for delivery, and for impact.”
