Display Energy Certificates (DEC) accreditation

Becoming a DEC Assessor

All buildings occupied by a public authority, exceeding 1,000m2 floor area and with substantial access to the public, require a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) each year, which must be displayed prominently in a public area. Every seven years, they will also require an Advisory Report (AR) indicating areas in which they could make energy savings.

You must be a qualified DEC Assessor in order to produce legally valid Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and Advisory Reports (AR). Once you are a qualified, you can join ecmk’s Display Energy Certificates (DEC) accreditation scheme.

By joining ecmk’s DEC accreditation scheme you’ll have a licence to operate as a DEC Assessor and have an effective means to lodge your DECs and Advisory Reports to the Central Register, with the assurance of quality control. You will also gain access to other services ecmk has to offer.

Software

The DEC and Advisory Reports are produced using a widely available ‘Operational Rating Calculation’ software package, ORCalc Software (DEC) – this is FREE to download.

ecmk offers NDEAs the option of using a range of software packages. Level 3 and 4 NDEAs may use commercial SBEM applications from Builddesk (Carbon Checker), Design Builder and G-iSBEM as well as the free-to-use iSBEM interface. We are able to work with all major software suppliers
